Here it is, our much awaited update. Well we have been busy working with new providers and accomplishing new things with help finally. As some of you know we have been fighting for help since Andrea came home in her coma January of 2003.

So, we got our nurse Oct. of 2005 and providers Febuary of 2006. Andrea finally got on a CAP list this month and now can get PT & Speech therapy, equipment, respite, providers and her nursing hrs increased. Adrienne her twin sister is taking classes to be certified to help with Andrea also this week.

Adrienne is also having a little girl, Alisa Lucille, next mth. Andrea and I cant wait to dress her up and give her lots of love. Exspecially since she will be in the house daily, lol. We think she will be good hands on therapy for Andrea, hehe.

Now back to Miss Andrea. Andrea has been moving her right side more in the last couple of mths, making more sounds, learning to write left-handed even though she has tremors, face exspressions, holding her breath to build diaphram and taking deep breaths. She has also been doing a few surprises.

A couple of days before Mother's Day we were having our mother-daughter talk on things that have been happening. When I asked her what was she going to do for me for Mother's Day she nodded her head and smiled and SAID "MA MA". Woohoo loud and clear and brought tears to my eyes. She thought at first since my children haven't seen me cry often that I was sad.

I told her they were happy tears and what a wonderful gift. Well, today we got her new leg brace. This one goes all the way up her leg and locks at her knee. Her right knee buckles and her foot turns over and in. So, this brace is like 10 hands compared to my two helping Andrea stand.

So, now we will go back to practising weight-bearing and work on walking again. Since we have gone without all the help we have had in the beginning, we are now having to start over again and take baby steps. Andrea & I have exercised daily but, it is hard to be her pt, ot, sp therapist, teacher, nurse, advocate, secretary, best friend & mother everyday.

It feels so good to have more help now, where I can spend more time just being her mother. Andrea has such a good Dr. & staff, case manager, nurse & providers, as well as, friends online, family and people around the world supporting her and her family.

We have been putting a varnish on Andrea's teeth once a mth from where her teeth are so fragile since her accident. We are going to have to take her to a specialist and see what is going to have to be done to save her teeth since she is so young. It is mainly her right side that she drools out of sometimes. Her weaker side.

So, I took a break a couple of weeks ago to check out Adrienne's new car. We decided to go check on her horse and I had on white capri's and flipflops. Didnt plan on going to see horse when we left home. It was a beautiful day and everything was great til the lady who we board from asked me to hold the gate open.

Little did I know "Chance" the horse, went crazy over empty feed buckets. So here he comes where Im at in the corner by the water tub where black mud is all around it. Next thing I know, my flipflops are suctioned in the mud and I lose my balance trying to back away from dummy Chance. Down I go hitting my cheek, left side & ribs and right elbow on the wheelbarrow. Adrienne is laughing her butt off.When I stand up mud is running from my waist to my toes.

So she says I cant get in her new car,lol. So, I ride with Lucky, haha and got a trash bag to cover the seats. So, when I come walking in the door, what does Miss Andrea do but, laugh out loud the rest of the day and night. Also everytime she signed her version to her nurse & providers. So, glad my first day out in a very long time was so entertaining for her, lol. Go ahead and laugh it was funny.

Ok enough jokes on me. Andrea's song is going back up the charts this week to 22. It has never gone off the top 40 since released in Australia this yr.
